The gym has been going well. 6:15 Tues, Wed & Friday and 8:30 on Saturdays. I feel stronger, but no real weight loss yet, so I'm just assuming that my muscles are getting bigger which would cause to being heavier (which I am not yet) and helping with loosing this stubborn fat.January 22, 2011 ByThis review is from: BodyMedia FIT Armband BW Weight Management System (Health and Beauty)This was hard for me to decide what to rate this item. But my final decision came with "Would I buy it again?" "Was it worth the money?" and I determined this WAS five stars.
I read all the reviews and I knew what the issues were going in. I wanted the bluetooth technology, and while I knew it was not a great app for the iphone, I figured there would be improvements on it over time and I wanted to be in with the bluetooth technology. I am guessing that many of the technological advancements are going to pertain to the bluetooth-iness of this unit. I started out with about a 20% connectivity rate and not that is up to about 75-80%. I just had to figure out what was the best time to hit the button and open the app. I do not have to constantly reconnect. But I think the bad part of the app is that it overestimates the data. On the Facebook Bodymedia Fit page I read that the formula for crunching the numbers and spitting out your data(steps taken, calories burned)is much more complex in the online activity manager. The app can't handle all that. As a result the numbers are less accurate. Not hundreds of calories off or anything but I burned about 3000 calories yesterday and at the end of night using the app I was 60 more than what the activity manager said. I updated on the A(ctivity)M(anager) and then the app takes the info from there and you get the right info. So, I try to sync to the computer and the AM when I really need to know where I am at. I read that the display also did perfectly estimate for the same reasons. And you don't have the layout in front of you like the app does, so I prefer the app and I didn't have to purchase the app which is nice. The display isn't cheap.Customer service is a serious serious issue right now as I write this. There are tons of reports on the FB page about 1 week to get an email response, having to leave a message for CS and hope they get back to you and items showing in stock and that they ship same day if your order is in by 8am but the item is actually backordered but they don't tell you and you are waiting and waiting. They keep saying it is because they didn't anticipate this amount of business.... but it is January and now Jenny Craig is using the BMF apparently. I feel like they should have been prepared before they got involved with JC, and I don't think they are handling this well. But I do think it is temporary and that will work itself out. The band this shipped with didn't fit and I had to order a new band and that was a difficult experience....So you might wonder why I will still give it 5 stars. I love the BMF that much. It offers information that you cannot get anywhere else. For me and my health journey, it offered the missing information I have been needing. You can guess all you want how active you are and how many calories you are burning but everyone is different. And when you are told to not eat too little and have a calorie defecit of 1000 calories or so and lose steady.... you can't effectively do that unless you know what your burn is. You can only guess and that guessing might be far off and people really get stuck in their weightloss and as a result get discouraged. It had also given me a very different perspective on my workouts and made me a little less obsessive about working out for 1 1.5 - 2 hours a day. I look more at the whole day as a fitness goal. How active was I today? Where is my burn? I always clean the house on my non-workout days and those tend to be huge calorie burn days as a result. It really changes your perspective. I workout pretty hard and used to 'rest up' before a big workout but the reality is from a weightloss perspective that is counter productive, I could burn a lot just going about my day normally and can still shave a half hour off my workout to make a good daily defecit. The 2 hour workouts started to take their toll and I was burning out, so this has really helped me regroup and think about it differently.Despite the buggy app and the bad customer service I give it 5 stars and would buy it again, The bluetooth technology runs about 50.00 more than the non BT as I write this and I would stick with that model, that is where the future is in my opinion.
Once the BMF gets here I will post my start weight and end goal weight with goal date.
Happy Times!!!
